Nach einer heftigen Debatte schaffte nun das Tourismus-Ministerium Klarheit...<\/p> Namibia-Urlauber, die im Allradwagen unterwegs sind, d\u00fcrfen auch weiterhin auf eigene Faust die Offroad-Strecke zum Sossusvlei fahren. Das hat das Ministerium f\u00fcr Umwelt, Forstwirtschaft und Tourismus (MEFT) in einer Pressemitteilung am 13. Dezember klargestellt.<\/p> Es widersprach damit einer Ank\u00fcndigung des Unternehmens About Africa Co vom 2. Dezember, den Zugang weiter zu beschr\u00e4nken. About Africa hatte im Januar 2024 eine Konzession f\u00fcr Shuttle-Fahrten vom Parkplatz (am Ende der Teerstra\u00dfe) zum Sossusvlei erhalten (siehe Meldung \"Sossusvlei-Shuttle wird zur 4x4-Exkursion\"<\/a>).<\/p> \"Die Konzession verbietet selbst fahrenden Besuchern [...] keineswegs den kostenlosen Zugang zum Sossusvlei\", betonte MEFT. Auch Reiseveranstalter und Lodges der Umgebung d\u00fcrften ihre G\u00e4ste weiterhin selbst zum Sossusvlei fahren. Vorausgesetzt, sie sind beim Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) registriert.<\/p> F\u00fcr nicht registrierte Veranstalter ist die Zufahrt bereits seit September 2024 verboten. Dasselbe gilt f\u00fcr zweiradgetriebene Wagen \u2013 und f\u00fcr Fahrzeuge, die die Umwelt sch\u00e4digen wie etwa Busse und Lastwagen.<\/p> Die Offroad-Strecke vom Parkplatz (am Ende der Teerstra\u00dfe) zum Sossusvlei und benachbarten Dead Vlei ist etwa 5 km lang. Sie verl\u00e4uft weitgehend im Bett des Tsauchab-Riviers (Trockenflusses). Stellenweise muss man tiefen Sand durchqueren. Ab und zu bleiben auch unge\u00fcbte Fahrer mit Allradwagen stecken.<\/p> Der Konzessions-Inhaber About Africa klagt \u00fcber Umweltsch\u00e4den in dem Naturschutzgebiet. Selbstfahrer w\u00fcrden die Offroad-Strecke nach und nach verbreitern, indem sie an schwierigen Stellen ausweichen. Sossusvlei und Dead Vlei liegen in der D\u00fcnen-Namib, die seit 2013 zum Welt-Naturerbe der UNESCO z\u00e4hlt<\/a>.<\/p> About Africa k\u00fcndigte au\u00dferdem an, die Preise f\u00fcr seine Touren vom Parkplatz zum Sossusvlei und Dead Vlei zu erh\u00f6hen. Ab 1. Januar 2026 kosten sie 260 Namibia Dollar. Bisher lag der Preis bei 200 Namibia Dollar. Kinder zahlen die H\u00e4lfte. Die Touren beinhalten auch eine gef\u00fchrte Wanderung auf eine der D\u00fcnen.<\/p> Die Konzession von About Africa l\u00e4uft 25 Jahre. Sie schreibt vor, dass der Betrieb auch den Gemeinschaften der !Karkhoen-Nama und des Ortes Maltah\u00f6he zugute kommt. About Africa hatte diesen Gemeinschaften mehr als 100 Millionen Namibia Dollar aus den Einnahmebeteiligungen in Aussicht gestellt.<\/p> Immer \u00f6fter klagen Besucher \u00fcber viel Betrieb auf der Zufahrt und am Sossusvlei. Morgens bilden sich schon lange Autoschlangen an der Parkeinfahrt bei Sesriem, die mit Sonnenaufgang ge\u00f6ffnet wird. Am Sossusvlei selbst kommt es oft zu einem Wettrennen um die Picknick-Pl\u00e4tze.<\/p> B\u00fcllsPort empfiehlt seinen G\u00e4sten daher, Sossusvlei und Dead Vlei nachmittags zu besuchen (siehe auch \"Weitere Erlebnisse\"<\/a>). Und zwar im Rahmen eines entspannten Tagesausflugs auf einer Rundtour um die NAUkLuFT.<\/p> Morgens geht es nach dem Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck in Ruhe los, auf der D854. Sp\u00e4tvormittags erkundet man den schattigen Sesriem Canyon<\/a>. F\u00fcr den Mittags-Imbiss, den B\u00fcllsPort auf Wunsch als Lunch-Paket zum Mitnehmen vorbereitet (siehe \"Preise & Buchung\"<\/a>), sucht man sich ein nettes Pl\u00e4tzchen auf dem Weg von Sesriem zum Sossusvlei.<\/p> B\u00fcllsPorts Tipp: Direkt vor der Furt der Teerstra\u00dfe durch das Tsauchab-Rivier (Trockenfluss) liegt eine Anh\u00f6he mit Blick \u00fcber das breite D\u00fcnental. Nachmittags erlebt man das Sossusvlei<\/a>, das Dead Vlei<\/a> und die h\u00f6chsten D\u00fcnen der Welt \u2013 ohne gro\u00dfen Rummel.
