The campaign took place in the Naukluft National Park at the beginning of April. The park borders directly on the private nature reserve of B\u00fcllsPort Lodge & Farm. Just in time for the start of the hiking season in the Fish River Canyon, the NAUkLuFT and other hiking hotspots in Namibia, the aim was to warn against reckless hiking.<\/p>\n
Time and again, hikers get dehydrated on hikes in Namibia’s warm and dry climate because they don’t drink enough. Even when a headache sets in, they do not immediately reach for the water bottle.<\/p>\n
Many hikers also underestimate the intense sunlight. Those who do not wear headgear can easily risk sunstroke. Not to be confused with the much more severe heat stroke, which is even life-threatening. Both are characterised by headaches and nausea.<\/p>\n
The campaign went differently than planned. As the media reported, someone on the hike in the Naukluft National Park had to be evacuated due to dehydration and taken to the nearest clinic. Of all people, it was the head of the media department responsible for the campaign.<\/p>\n
However, many were surprised that a stretcher was available so quickly in the rocky terrain. And some people wondered whether the accident had been staged to give the campaign more media attention…<\/p>\n
When hiking in the Naukluft Mountains in B\u00fcllsPort’s private nature reserve, there has never been a case of such severe dehydration. But as mentioned: B\u00fcllsPort is telling its guests what to look out for when hiking.<\/p>\n

Was passiert, wenn man das ignoriert, hat sich ausgerechnet w\u00e4hrend einer Bewusstseins-Kampagne f\u00fcr umsichtiges Wandern gezeigt...<\/p> Die Kampagne fand Anfang April im Naukluft Nationalpark statt. Der Park grenzt direkt an das private Naturschutzgebiet von B\u00fcllsPort Lodge & Farm. Rechtzeitig vor Beginn der Wander-Saison im Fischfluss Canyon, in der NAUkLuFT und anderen Wander-Hotspots in Namibia wollte man vor leichtsinnigem Wandern warnen.<\/p> Denn immer wieder kommt es vor, dass Wanderer auf Wanderungen im warmen und trockenen Klima Namibias dehydrieren, weil sie zu wenig trinken. Selbst wenn Kopfschmerzen einsetzen, greifen sie nicht gleich zur Wasserflasche.<\/p> Auch die intensive Sonnenstrahlung untersch\u00e4tzen viele Wanderer. Wer keine Kopfbedeckung tr\u00e4gt, kann leicht einen Sonnenstich riskieren. Lebensgef\u00e4hrlich wird es beim Hitzschlag. Beides k\u00fcndigt sich mit Kopfschmerzen und \u00dcbelkeit an.<\/p> Die Kampagne lief anders als geplant. Wie Medien berichteten, musste jemand auf der Wanderung im Naukluft Nationalpark wegen Dehydrierung evakuiert und in die n\u00e4chstgelegene Klinik gebracht werden. Dabei handelte es sich ausgerechnet um den Leiter der Medienabteilung, die f\u00fcr die Kampagne zust\u00e4ndig war.<\/p> Allerdings wunderten sich viele dar\u00fcber, dass in dem felsigen Gel\u00e4nde so schnell eine Trage zur Verf\u00fcgung stand. Und mancher fragte sich, ob der Unfall nicht inszeniert war, um der Kampagne mehr Medienwirksamkeit zu verschaffen...<\/p> Beim Wandern in den Naukluft-Bergen im privaten Naturschutzgebiet von B\u00fcllsPort hat es noch keinen Fall derartig heftiger Dehydrierung gegeben.
